Finding Rhythms
Fall is here and change is in the air. The days are getting shorter again and the nights are a little colder. A new school year is underway and I am starting a new job this week. Design projects are buzzing with a life of their own and creativity and abundance are all around. It’s up to us, though, to slow down and notice / appreciate the beauty of the season.
Life with work and bills and schedules and kids and dinners to get on the table, etc. etc., can feel overwhelming - like there is too much to do in a day to possibly do in a day. Finding a rhythm helps. We breathe in the new day, we breathe out the need to control every little aspect of it. We set our intentions and stay present as much as possible. We let go of the need to be perfect.
We wake up at the same time each morning and (try our best) to go to sleep at the same time each night. At tea time, we sip our tea slowly and watch our breath. Our routines are the foundations for our ease. There are times of quiet and focus and times of dancing and laughing and playing. In and out. Like the rhythm of the tides, of the sun, of the moon, of the earth all around us. Light and dark. Expanding and contracting. We find our rhythm and marvel at the season at hand.
And our homes and offices and classrooms (and any of the interior spaces we find ourselves in most often) offer a beautiful chance to incorporate, mindfulness, beauty and soothing rhythms into our lives. How we design and live in our spaces is so directly connected to our well being.
